Tradition

Being in the military is demanding and sometimes dangerous. Being a veteran is often lonely. Very little was available to the veteran in the way of information relating to benefits for the veteran and his/her family. Not until the enactment of the Florida Statute 292.11 of 1945, was the way cleared to have a trained proficient County Service Officer in each of Florida's 67 counties.

The CVSOA was organized in 1950 and is the state's only all veteran service officers advocate for the veterans of the State of Florida. The CVSOA has a single purpose - service to veterans/dependents at no cost with no discrimination.

They know the extent, the meaning and the application of the laws that have been passed by the U.S. Congress and State Legislature, in the interest of the veterans and their dependents. They also have knowledge of the rules and regulations adopted by the VA to clarify and implement the Laws.

The service office staff will apply specialized knowledge in the best way suited to the need of every individual veteran or beneficiary who comes to them. All information conveyed to the staff is privileged and will be held in strict confidence.
