Code Enforcement is that branch of the local governing body responsible for the enforcement of that body’s Civil Codes and Ordinances.
Codes and Ordinances have been adopted over the years to protect the health, safety and welfare of all residents and to establish a standards to ensure a positive effect on property value, community appearance and neighborhood pride.
Responsibilities
- To protect, promote and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the county and municipalities of the state
- To impose administrative fines and other non-criminal penalties to provide equitable, expeditious, effective and inexpensive methods of enforcing any codes and ordinances in force in the county and municipalities, where a pending or repeated violation continues to exist
- Provides an effective means of enforcing the Code of Ordinances and the Land Development Regulations, ensuring that our communities age gracefully
- The goal of any Code Enforcement branch is voluntary compliance
